The Workplace Relations Commission found that a worker’s complaint that her dismissal was linked to SIPTU membership was not well founded in a decision dated 9 December 2016. The adjudicator found no evidence supported the claim and said the WRC lacked jurisdiction to hear it under the Unfair Dismissals Act. The worker said her probation was extended and she was dismissed after joining SIPTU. The employer said she had not passed probation and denied that union membership was a factor. The merits were not decided.
