The Workplace Relations Commission recommended that a lecturer’s earlier service be recognised and that she receive three additional incremental points, placing her at point four of the salary scale from December 2015. The recommendation was dated 15 February 2017. The lecturer said her previous service as a lecturer above the bar had not been recognised when she progressed to that grade and was placed at the first point. The third-level institution said its practice allowed incremental credit only through recruitment, while acknowledging the unusual circumstances. The officer identified a gap in the progression procedure and urged the parties to address it at institutional level. The recommendation was made without precedent.
