The Workplace Relations Commission upheld a cleaner’s complaint over a cut in her working hours, ordering her hours restored to 28 a week and awarding her €2,500. The decision was dated 7 November 2016. Her employment transferred to a facilities management company in February 2014 while she worked 28 hours a week. The company later reduced her hours to 16, saying it had reviewed operations and that her contract allowed changes to working times. The WRC found she transferred on 28 hours a week and that the contract clause did not allow the company to reduce those hours. It said changes should be negotiated and agreed.
