Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed a service user’s Equal Status complaint against a government agency after she did not attend the hearing. In a decision dated 29 November 2016, it found her absence unexplained and dismissed the claim for want of prosecution; the merits were not decided. She had alleged gender discrimination after the agency used her former name on a letter. The agency said it was a mistake, apologised and outlined steps to address its records and future communications.
