A WRC adjudication officer recommended that an engineering operative exhaust his employer’s internal procedures before referring his workplace dispute back to the Commission. The recommendation was dated 23 January 2017. The worker sought alternative duties after becoming unable to drive buses. He said driving made up less than a quarter of his work and that the operator had accommodated two other employees in similar roles. The operator said driving accounted for about half the job, offered him a temporary clerical role, and argued that removing driving duties would make the night shift unworkable.
