The Workplace Relations Commission found that a manufacturing company did not unfairly dismiss a production employee when his fixed-term contract expired, and dismissed his penalisation complaint as not well founded. The decision was dated 18 May 2017. The employee said the company did not renew his contract because he brought legal proceedings after a workplace injury. The company said it had assessed its business needs and did not renew 14 employees’ contracts. The adjudication officer found that the employee’s employment ended on the date stated in his contract and that he had not established evidence of penalisation.
