The WRC recommended referring a health care assistant’s pay dispute back to a health service provider for immediate mediation. The recommendation was dated 29 June 2017. The worker sought compensation after moving to a relief porter job without weekend shifts or the associated premium pay. The provider said he had requested the move and could have stayed in his previous role. The adjudication officer found he accepted the new role but had consistently sought compensation, and that management knew the grievance remained unresolved. If agreement was not reached, the worker could consider referring the dispute to the Labour Court.
