WRC rejects lorry driver’s penalisation complaint against distribution company

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC rejected a lorry driver’s penalisation complaint against a distribution company, finding he had not shown that changes to his duties and terms were a penalty for raising working-time concerns. The decision was dated 14 June 2017. The driver said he was assigned difficult deliveries, received fewer hours and older lorries, and was pressured to break parking rules. The company said it changed the run system to prevent possible working-time breaches and denied reducing his average hours. The adjudicator accepted the company’s explanations and found no causal link or real detriment.
