WRC rejects cabin crew member’s unfair dismissal complaint after she resigns

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) found a cabin crew member’s unfair dismissal complaint was not well founded after she resigned without pursuing the available grievance routes. The decision was dated 30 August 2017.

The worker said her airline offered her €10,000 to leave and later withdrew the offer. The adjudication officer accepted that an HR representative made the verbal offer, but found the airline had followed its procedures for managing her long-term absence.

The officer found she had not exhausted the available options before resigning, including the company’s grievance procedure. The €10,000 was an offer discussed between the parties, not an award by the WRC.
