The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed a security official’s complaint about Sunday attendance pay and overtime for longer sporting events. The decision was dated 22 June 2017. The official said Sunday pay had been underpaid from 2003 to 2015 and that longer fixtures were not properly compensated. The sporting administration body said it had paid one year of Sunday arrears, older claims were outside the statutory period, and the daily rate covered minor event extensions. The WRC found the 2015 arrears payment discharged the employer’s obligation and that the legislation did not allow earlier claims. It also found the daily rate covered the additional event time, so the claim was not well founded.
