The Workplace Relations Commission rejected a driver’s complaint for a statutory redundancy payment, finding that his school-bus work did not amount to redundancy. The decision was dated 14 December 2016. The driver said the school-bus route continued with another driver and promised alternative work did not materialise. The transport provider said it offered rural-link driving work, subject to a medical examination and training. The WRC found that the driver had been directly replaced and the same work continued on the same basis, so the complaint was not well founded.
