The WRC awarded a shop worker €1,592 in four weeks’ notice pay and found that his redundancy service should include earlier employment with a previous employer. The decision was dated 11 July 2017. The respondent did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator accepted the worker’s evidence that he had received no notice of the shop’s closure and found that a transfer of undertakings preserved continuity of service. Redundancy was to be calculated from 16 February 2009, including his service with the previous employer.
