The Workplace Relations Commission found a crèche assistant’s complaint over a claimed €50.18 pay deduction was not well founded. The decision, dated 23 October 2017, concerned a day she took off to care for her ill son. The complainant said she arranged cover and told her managers. The crèche said she worked up the hours and that no deduction was made. The adjudication officer found the circumstances did not meet the Parental Leave Act criteria for force majeure leave, and that the crèche could apply its policy allowing her to make up the hours, which she did.
