WRC rejects postal worker’s force majeure leave complaint

By Donal Gilhooly

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission found a postal worker’s force majeure leave complaint not well founded in a decision dated 8 June 2017. The worker had sought leave after his partner was injured and he needed to collect his daughter from a school bus. The postal service said it was reasonable to request supporting evidence and that annual leave covered the day. The adjudication officer found the worker refused to provide evidence that his presence was indispensable and considered the request for proof reasonable.
