The WRC recommended that a tyre company pay a tyre fitter €5,000 compensation for the loss of his job. The recommendation was dated 11 May 2017. The worker said he was dismissed without explanation after less than a year in the job, despite being praised and later receiving an excellent reference. The company did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator found that the worker had no notice of the dismissal meeting, no right to representation or appeal, and that the company had breached its handbook’s disciplinary and termination procedures. The recommendation was compensation for the loss of his employment.
