A housekeeper’s complaint against Service Industry over a proposed change to her duties was found not well founded by the Workplace Relations Commission in a decision dated 22 May 2017. She said she had not been told in writing about the change and was asked to move from housekeeping to wash-up duties without agreement. Service Industry said concerns about her presence on its premises outside working hours meant it could not offer her work in the accommodation department. At the hearing, the employer agreed to contact her doctor with her permission and consider whether to seek an assessment by a company doctor. The adjudication officer said the employer was obliged to investigate the circumstances and found the complaint not well founded.
