The WRC recommended splitting an academic co-ordinator’s role at a third-level institution into separate teaching and administrative contracts pending a job evaluation. The recommendation was dated 25 October 2017 and proposed the contracts take effect from 1 June 2017. The worker said teaching was the main focus of her job and a university teacher grade better matched her duties. The institution said the role combined academic and administrative work and that employment controls constrained a job evaluation. The recommendation proposed University Teacher Grade terms for teaching and administrative grade 3 terms for administrative work.
