WRC rejects manager’s unfair dismissal and employment terms complaints

By Orla Quinn

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC found a manager’s unfair dismissal and employment terms complaints against a manufacturing company not well founded. The decision was dated 28 March 2018. The manager said he had not received written terms on time and that his redundancy was unfair. The adjudicator accepted that the company held a signed and dated statement of terms, and found the manager’s role had been subsumed into the managing director’s functions after restructuring. The adjudicator had no jurisdiction to consider alleged failures to provide written statements about later changes to the manager’s terms because no complaint on that issue had been referred.
