The Workplace Relations Commission awarded a shop worker €1,200 in notice pay, €360 for six days of annual leave and €200 for not receiving a written contract. It also found her entitled to statutory redundancy, with the amount to be calculated under the applicable rules. The decision was dated 30 January 2018. The worker said the retail business closed unexpectedly and that she was owed notice, annual leave, a contract and redundancy. The respondent did not attend the hearing despite proper notice. The WRC accepted the worker’s evidence and directed that the redress be paid within four weeks of the decision.
