WRC upholds employee’s redundancy and notice claims against barber

By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission upheld an employee’s redundancy and minimum-notice claims against a barber, awarding €967.38 for notice pay. The decision was dated 13 June 2017. The employee said she had worked for the barber since 2008 and received neither notice nor redundancy entitlement after the business went into liquidation. The respondent did not attend, and the adjudicator accepted the employee’s uncontested evidence. The employee was also found entitled to redundancy under the 1967 Act.
