Manufacturing company ordered to pay quality controller €1,300 over missing contract

By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

A manufacturing company was ordered to pay a quality controller €1,300 after the WRC found he should have received a contract when appointed to the role. His separate unfair dismissal complaint failed. Adjudication Officer Jim O’Connell dated the decision 24 August 2017. The officer found the worker had not requested a contract before his appointment, but should have received one when he became quality controller. On the dismissal complaint, the officer found he knew about concerns over his attendance and the consequences if it did not improve. The dismissal was found fair.
