The WRC upheld a general operative’s redundancy claim against a meat processing plant. The decision was dated 11 May 2017. The worker said he had been employed continuously from 1 November 1999 to 24 October 2016 and received no redundancy payment after short-time working and layoff. The respondent did not attend or provide submissions, so the adjudicator relied on the worker’s uncontested account. The plant was required to pay his statutory redundancy entitlement, based on weekly wages of €560 and service from 1 November 1999 to 20 October 2016.
