WRC dismisses repair technician’s employment terms complaint after he misses hearing

By Aoife Loughran

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed a repair technician’s complaint about written employment terms after he did not attend the hearing. Adjudication officer Patsy Doyle dated the decision 23 August 2017. The claim fell for want of prosecution in the complainant’s absence; the merits were not decided. The repair company said it had provided a written statement of employment terms on 3 October 2016 and submitted a copy. The WRC found the technician had been notified of the hearing, but he did not appear.
