The WRC found it had no jurisdiction over a medical officer’s equal-pay dispute with a health sector employer in a decision dated 6 March 2018; the merits were not decided. The medical officer said she did 95% of the work of a senior medical officer and sought equal pay. The employer argued the dispute concerned the rate of pay for the grade and fell outside the adjudicator’s jurisdiction. The adjudicator accepted the employer’s preliminary objection and said the complaint was misconceived under the Industrial Relations Act.
