The WRC found that a seamstress had been made redundant and was entitled to a statutory redundancy payment, rejecting the Tailoring Service’s account that she had resigned. The decision was dated 4 April 2018. The worker said the employer told her in August 2016 that it could no longer afford to pay her. The employer said she had requested a P45 because illness meant she could not return to work. The WRC found it illogical that the employer would then ask her to do the same work from home if she was too ill to work at the premises. The payment is based on weekly pay of €223.84 and continuous service from 5 November 2013 to 1 September 2016.
