The Workplace Relations Commission ordered a builder to pay a carpenter €4,588 in statutory redundancy, €3,365 for annual leave and public holidays, and €1,100 for failing to provide written terms. The decision was dated 14 July 2017. The carpenter said he had received no redundancy or holiday pay. The builder said the work was intermittent, that further work had been offered and that leave was handled informally. It accepted that it had not provided a written contract. The adjudicator found that the carpenter had been laid off long enough to qualify for redundancy and had not received holiday pay or payment for public holidays. The written-terms complaint was also well founded because no statement of terms had been provided.
