Restaurant worker awarded €3,330 after employer failed to pay wages

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC upheld a restaurant worker's wages complaint and awarded her €3,330, subject to normal statutory deductions. Adjudication Officer Pat Brady dated the decision 12 June 2017. The worker said she went about nine weeks without wages and that the employer kept about half her tips. The restaurant did not attend the hearing. The adjudicator estimated €562 in tips was owed and discounted €555 paid after she left when calculating statutory wages entitlement.
