The WRC upheld a retail assistant’s redundancy payment complaint and found she was entitled to a statutory lump sum based on service from 15 March 2000 and gross weekly pay of €372. The decision was dated 23 November 2017. The grocery retailer did not attend the hearing. The WRC found the assistant’s employment ended by reason of redundancy when the business ceased trading in July 2016. The decision’s payment criteria give a termination date of 8 July 2015.
