The WRC found that a social care worker was not unfairly dismissed after sending confidential staff and service-user information to personal email accounts. The decision was dated 20 November 2017. The worker said he used the emails to manage his workload and did not intend harm, but accepted he should not have sent them. The officer found that he knew the importance of protecting confidential information and that the disciplinary and appeal processes were fair. The officer also said staff should receive copies of policies and confirm in writing that they had read and understood them.
