The WRC found that a crane operator’s unfair-dismissal complaint against a port company was not well founded. The decision was dated 22 May 2018. The adjudicator found that CCTV showed the crane travelling at high speed before it struck a stationary crane, and that the operator had acknowledged looking the other way. Although whether the anti-collision system activated could not be resolved conclusively, the adjudicator found the dismissal reasonable and proportionate given the safety concerns.
