The WRC found that a cleaning services company was entitled to offer a worker alternative hours after a client asked for his removal from its site. Adjudication Officer Jim Dolan dated the decision 21 November 2017. The worker sought compensation for a reduction in weekly pay after being moved from his usual site. He said the company had treated him unfairly and had not offered suitable alternative work. The company said it offered 15 hours a week at each of two other sites within easy walking distance, which he declined. The WRC found that the employee handbook allowed a client to ban staff from its premises and required the company to try to find suitable alternative employment. It found that the worker had been offered hours at two sites. His complaint was not well founded and failed.
