The Workplace Relations Commission rejected a worker’s unfair dismissal complaint after finding that her role was made redundant when the employer outsourced its accounts department. The decision was dated 20 November 2017. The employer said new accounting software took over the work and that it consulted the worker about ways to avoid redundancy. The officer found there was a genuine redundancy, the worker had been consulted and she had been offered an opportunity to appeal, which she declined.
