WRC dismisses Broadband Technician’s penalisation and victimisation claims

By Ruairí Dolan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed a Broadband Technician’s claims of health-and-safety penalisation and equality victimisation. The decision was dated 7 November 2017. For the penalisation claim, the officer found the technician had not established a protected act, penalisation or the required causal link. For the victimisation claim, he had not identified a ground on which he was victimised or established a prima facie case. Seven other claims were not pursued after the complainant declined to proceed to the Labour Court, and two further claims were withdrawn at the hearing.
