WRC finds factory manager’s redundancy and dismissal complaints not well founded

By Fionn Kelly

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission found that a factory manager’s redundancy and constructive unfair dismissal complaints were not well founded. The manager said his role became redundant after a factory closed and that he resigned after being assigned unsuitable work. The restaurant said his role was not redundant and that he continued to have work across its business. The adjudication officer found that he had been told his job was safe and had continued working, and that the respondent made efforts to engage with him about his grievance while he did not meaningfully engage. The decision was dated 9 April 2018.
