The WRC decided that The Sportsman’s Roadhouse Limited must pay chef Gavin Rafferty 25.36 weeks’ pay in redundancy compensation. The decision was dated 20 November 2017, and the entitlement is subject to his having been in insurable employment for the relevant period. Rafferty worked for the company until his redundancy on 22 June 2015 and earned €480 gross a week. The WRC found that he had claimed within 52 weeks of redundancy and that delays arose while the liquidator dealt with a disagreement over the calculation. It found reasonable cause to hear the complaint within 104 weeks of dismissal. The company did not attend the hearing or make a written submission.
