By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC ordered a transport company to pay a truck driver a redundancy lump sum after finding he was dismissed by redundancy. The decision was dated 11 October 2017. The officer relied on the driver’s uncontested account that the company was downsizing and had promised a redundancy payment. The order is subject to his having been in insurable employment during the relevant period. It was based on employment from 1 September 2013 to 28 October 2016 and weekly gross pay of €550.
