WRC dismisses teacher’s age discrimination complaint

By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC dismissed a teacher’s age discrimination complaint against a primary school over her unsuccessful application for deputy principal. The decision was dated 24 January 2018. The teacher said comments made during two interviews referred to her age and long service. The WRC found no basis for linking the comments to her age and said there was no basis to infer that the interview board assessed candidates on anything other than merit. She ranked third in each of three interviews.
