The WRC recommended €4,000 compensation for a night supervisor at a hostel after her hours were cut without agreement or consultation. Adjudication officer Gaye Cunningham dated the recommendation 6 October 2017. Her weekly hours fell from 42.5 to 27.5 after a resident took over overnight cover, significantly reducing her earnings. Her hours were later restored, but the WRC said future arrangements were unclear. It recommended that the worker’s employer consult her union representative about future night cover and compensate her for lost earnings.
