A chef’s claim for a redundancy payment against Gannon Properties failed after the Workplace Relations Commission found it was not supported by either side’s submissions. Adjudication Officer Peter O’Brien dated the decision 20 November 2017. The chef said she had worked for the company from 2001 until July 2016 and was due a redundancy payment. The company said her employment ended because she could not perform her duties while receiving an invalidity pension, not because she was made redundant. It did not attend the hearing. The WRC said it would not decide whether her employment had ended or whether she remained employed, and found that her claim failed.
