The WRC upheld a shop assistant’s redundancy complaint and required the retail store to pay her statutory redundancy payment. Adjudication Officer Seán Reilly dated the decision 22 November 2017. The assistant said the shop closed with the loss of all jobs on 3 December 2016 and that the employer did not pay her redundancy entitlement. The retail store was not represented at the hearing. The WRC relied on her uncontested evidence of continuous service from 1 September 2009 to 3 December 2016 and a normal weekly wage of €359.50. The decision gave the basis for calculating the payment but no total figure.
