The WRC awarded a shop assistant €1,500 after finding she was unfairly dismissed by a grocery store. Adjudication Officer Marian Duffy dated the decision 31 May 2018 and allowed the employer’s legal name to be corrected. The officer found the manager had accepted the assistant’s withdrawal of her resignation before ending her employment. The employer said it had accepted her resignation after she was off sick; the assistant said she had withdrawn it and was then dismissed. The WRC found there were no substantial grounds for dismissal and no fair procedures. It awarded compensation for financial loss from late April to the end of July 2017, calculated as €150 net weekly pay multiplied by 12, for a total of €1,500.
