The WRC found it had no jurisdiction to investigate an electrical instructor’s equal pay complaint against a training centre because it fell outside the scope of the Employment Equality Acts. The employee’s case failed; the merits were not decided. The decision was dated 15 May 2018. The employee alleged that a colleague doing the same work was paid more because of his civil status. The training centre argued that he had not provided evidence linking the pay difference to civil status, and that both men were married.
