The WRC rejected a chef’s complaint for holiday pay accrued while he was on sick leave, finding that he had not kept his employer regularly informed about his recovery and expected return. The decision was dated 12 April 2018. The chef said he had reported an accident and sought holiday pay for his absence. The restaurant said he failed to provide medical certificates as requested. The adjudication officer found the restaurant had been told about the accident, but that there was little contact afterwards and certificates were not provided regularly.
