The WRC recommended that a charity keep a social care worker’s position under review after finding it reasonable to stop supporting her application for temporary rehabilitation remuneration. Adjudication Officer Jim O’Connell dated the recommendation 11 January 2018. The worker sought further payments and compensation, arguing that the charity had breached its policy. The charity said it withdrew support after a medical report raised doubt about her prospect of returning to work and that it had to follow public service pay rules. The officer found the charity’s decision correct and reasonable based on the information available at the time. He could not support the worker’s case but recommended keeping her position under review.
