WRC dismisses bar worker’s complaints after he misses hearing

By Cathal Brosnan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission dismissed a bar worker’s complaints after he did not attend a hearing. Adjudication Officer Catherine Byrne dated the decision 20 November 2017. The complaints concerned wages, working time, employment terms, minimum notice and industrial relations disputes. The officer said the worker’s absence meant the employer could not be identified with certainty and the substance of the complaints could not be heard. The worker’s complaints failed for lack of evidence, and the officer made no recommendation on the industrial relations disputes; the merits were not decided.
