Kitchen assistant’s contract complaint fails after she misses hearing

Workplace Relations Commission ·

A kitchen assistant’s complaint that she had not received a contract of employment failed after she did not attend a Workplace Relations Commission hearing. The merits were not decided. The decision was dated 23 November 2017. The complainant said she had started work on a six-hour week and had not received a contract. The restaurant said it had given her details of her terms, but she handed them back. The adjudicator found she had been properly notified of the hearing and had given no reason for her absence.
