A retail worker’s seven complaints against a retail outlet were found not well founded, including claims involving her contract, dismissal, bullying, shift swaps and fixed-term work. The worker had been employed part time as a sales adviser. She said she was not given a new contract when her weekly hours increased. The outlet said performance concerns led to a meeting and dismissal with notice. The WRC found she had been informed of the hours increase and had received advance notice of the dismissal meeting and an opportunity for representation. It also noted that she had not raised a bullying complaint through workplace procedures and had not set out details of the alleged less favourable treatment over shift swaps. The worker said she did not know what three other complaints concerned. Adjudication Officer Gerry McMahon dated the decision 22 March 2018. All seven complaints were found not well founded.
