WRC declines worker’s pay-grade dispute under collective agreement

By Rory Hanlon

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The Workplace Relations Commission declined to hear a worker’s dispute over her pay grade, finding the matter was covered by a collective agreement and its Job Evaluation Scheme. The decision was dated 16 January 2018. The merits were not decided. The worker sought promotion from Grade IV to Grade V and retrospective pay at the higher grade. The adjudication officer said the dispute concerned grades covered by the agreement and scheme, so the WRC could not entertain the complaint under section 13 of the Industrial Relations Act 1969.
