The WRC found that a charity had failed to provide an animal carer with written employment terms and awarded her €420. It also awarded €153 for three public holidays during her authorised absence. Adjudication Officer Kevin Baneham dated the decision 11 April 2018. Her unfair-dismissal complaint was not well founded: even accepting her account of events, the adjudicator found later correspondence left scope to resolve the hours issue, which she had not raised with the charity at the time. The WRC found the charity had not provided a written statement of terms and that the breach continued during her employment. It also found her authorised absence entitled her to public-holiday pay for 13 weeks. The charity’s request for costs was refused.
