WRC recommends team-building steps after clerical worker’s bullying complaint

By Cathal Brosnan

Workplace Relations Commission ·

The WRC recommended that a clerical worker at a bus company take part in team-building measures and meet the HR Services Manager after raising workplace bullying concerns. The recommendation was dated 2 February 2018. The worker said the company’s grievance process had not addressed her concerns. The company said it investigated the complaints and proposed steps to improve strained working relationships. The WRC found that the investigation was properly conducted and met accepted standards of fairness and objectivity, but did not decide whether the alleged bullying occurred. The WRC recommended that the worker cooperate with training and team-building exercises and take up a one-to-one meeting with the HR Services Manager. It also recommended that the company consider bringing in an external consultant.
